Steve Minx is considered by some (especially himself) to be the founding
member of Headstrong. He and Bassist Aaron "Koob" Secofsky
have been friends since grade school. During one of their Joyous
childhood conversations in Junior High, They encountered the Idea of
Starting a Band. However until High School it was just a thought.
During the High School years both guys picked up some equipment here
and there, a guitar here, drums there etc. Before long Steve became
friends with the infamous "Rooster" (CJ McClellan) before long he and
CJ. were discussing forming a band. But as Aaron and Steve lost touch
2 man jam sessions with Steve and CJ began occurring.
Somewhere along the
way Steve Encountered a Band Called the Helpless (RIP), Which Consisted
of some other close North End friends (Kent Kingsford and Kevin Allo).
The band didn't Progress as well as hoped and the guitarist known as
Havoc (Steve Mendonsa) left.
While Steve Minx And CJ continued to jam,
Steve spawned the idea of picking up A 2nd guitar, so he called up his
old school homie from way back, that's right the Koob originally played
guitar.
Now a bass player was needed. One day Havoc mentioned to the two
original Deadshlongers that he had a bass and could play. It was also
decided that Steve would sing, since he inherited several old Helpless
songs. But as time flew by, they switched positions all around. Nicholai Matro
joined the band for a brief spell at the end of 1998 and the beginning of
1999.
In March of 1999 Havoc and Nicholai Matro both left the band leaving it a three
piece for a time. The newest member of the band was stolen from another local
band, BHB. That's right kiddies.....BHB's Pat Puberty is the second guitarist in
Headstrong now. Woo Hoo. What a wacky bunch of kids with a lame story.
